Our videos of the final version of Song of Horror

If you're a nostalgic of the horror games of the 90s, Song of Horror might be your cup of tea. Protocol Games' title was released almost a month ago but we actually made some early gameplay videos in 2015 after we were sent the Kickstarter demo of the game. We have recorded the beginning of the adventure so you can see what to expect, but if you like the old school predefined camera angles of the original Alone in the Dark and you don't mind the permadeath feature (which can be a bit frustrating), this first project featuring 4 playable characters might be worth your while. Just be aware that the game isn't fully complete yet as episode 3 isn't available yet and no release date has been announced thus far.

Our videos of Song of Horror

We've already told you about Song of Horror but it's back on Gamersyde since Spanish developer Protocol Games launched a second Kickstarter campaign in order to finance their project. So far, they have only gathered €20,000 out of the €50,000 they need for the development, but there are still 25 days left. Until then, take a look at these two videos captured from the press demo. As it is now, the game seems to be needlessly unforgiving, sending the main character to a certain death a little too often. It wouldn't bother us that much if it didn't seem so unfair most of the time, but either there is something we don't get or Gabriel can only count on sheer luck to stay alive. Random attacks are meant to put the player under constant stress, but we've been more frustrated than scared for the moment. It's a shame as we rather like the atmosphere they have managed to convey.

Song of Horror arrives on Kickstarter

New Spanish developer Protocol Games just announced the arrival of Song of Horror on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight. Presented as the heir of the iconic Alone in the Dark, their game won't be released before November 2016 if all goes according to plan. It leaves the team quite a bit of time to polish the animations and controls which seem to be a bit on the stiff side, much like in Alone in the Dark or the old Resident Evil games. Trailer and gameplay video inside.
